Download your free copy of our colouring sheet of a design of the Archangel Gabriel for a stained glass window by William Morris.

Ruby has kindly produced a beautiful colouring sheet from a depiction of the Archangel Gabriel by William Morris (1834-1896). The design was intended for the West Window for the church of St Michael and All Angels in Brighton and is thought to have been drawn around 1862. With Christmas fast approaching, we thought that it would be a fitting colouring sheet for the winter period!
In instances when Gabriel was depicted with the Virgin Mary at the Annunciation, when he is said to have informed her that she was to bear the son of God, a lily was often included as a symbol of the Virgin’s purity. This may explain the presence of the lily in Gabriel’s hand in this design.
