The squirrels of Whitworth Park are known for being quite bold. Seldom a day goes by that they don’t trick unsuspecting members of the public into sharing their lunch with them. This festive poem by Urussa pays tribute to our furry friends.

Squirrels queue under irresponsible rain, to rent a tree.
Red and grey bricks surrounded by green and yellow grass.
The tons of trees, breathing, cleaning, being squirrelled on.
The red brick building sleeps on the 24th, 25th and 26th but the squirrels
Fight the rain and rats for tree time
All through British winter time.
–Urussa

What timely tribute to our furry friend,
Who jitters the daytime amongst the bark,
When night time falls off to spend,
Welcome tree time in Joseph Whitworths Park.
