A poem about last minute shopping and Christmas memories

My shopping has just started!
Every year I think it would be cathartic
Realisation dawns as I blur into the crowd,
Reigniting memories under a shroud,
Youthful episodes return me home.
Childhood days filled with anticipation
Hour by hour building with elation
Relatives, family and friends gather
Inspiring joy, laughter and chatter
Sewing stronger bonds with one another
Together brings out our true colour
Making the world seem whole
As I return to remember my goal
Sparks renew my shopping desire.

Shop till you drop often said,
Out for more than a loaf of bread,
Slipping on pavements with such sore feet,
Onwards back to my comfy T.V. seat.
