This design is a tracing for an illustration for ‘The Fairy Ship’. It was created by Walter Crane for a children’s book of the same name. Through poetry, the book tells the story of a ship which has a hold filled with almonds, sails of satin and a mast made out of gold. The ship is manned by a crew of mice who, as you can see, are all diligent workers.

Sue has hand traced an image of Walter Crane’s design and her tracing has been turned into a colouring sheet for your enjoyment.
